The Amazing Ananias

Charming hearts and minds since 1970, that teaching titan, that captivating clip-art, that emoticon extraordinaire…

This is Ananias. He was born during a boring, eighth-grade, science class in the corners of a notebook.

He has eyes and eyebrows…
Er hat Augen und Augenbrauen...
Tiene los ojos y las cejas…

a mouth and teeth...
einen Mund und Zähne...
una boca y los dientes…

and two feet.
und zwei Füsse.
y dos pies.

But he has no nose or arms.
Aber er hat keine Nase oder Arme.
Pero no tiene una nariz ni los brazos.

For four decades Ananias has appeared in homework assignments (including a German one), holiday newsletters, calendars, greeting cards, craft projects, and, of course, notebook margins. He even exists as a crocheted, stuffed toy and as multiple Christmas tree ornaments, plus he served a stint as an "Easter egg" on The Mommish One's website. Ananias also spent time assistant teaching for The Sisterish One at an elementary school in Boston. Ananias is only called "he" for convenience—Ananias is really pretty gender neutral.
